I’m a freelance writer living in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. I’m probably old enough to be your mother. And like your Mom, I offer a lot of unsolicited advice. I’m still working on that.

I have three adult children who are a constant source of joy and inspiration to me. When we are together, my face hurts from laughing. I raised them to stop whatever they’re doing and dance in the kitchen when a good song comes on; to trust and support each other; and to go for their dreams instead of working in the training program at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company after college because the salary was great and, well, you can always write on the weekends.

Here are my parents, Sue and Tom. I would like to thank them for teaching me everything I ever needed to know about love and family and integrity and kindness and humor. My father passed away in July of 2017, and my mother now lives minutes away in a local Senior Living Care Center. Even though she cannot recall what she had for breakfast, she is a model Mom. I am grateful that she still calls me by name. She lives in the present, and reminds me to do the same.

On April 1, 2017, with the marriage of my oldest son, our family expanded to include a kind, beautiful, and loving daughter-in-law! Did I mention talented? Intelligent? And now, just a few short years later, I have an amazing granddaughter, too!

On July 23, 2022, with the marriage of my daughter, I was gifted with another son who is so sharp, sensitive, strong and supportive! Try saying that five times, fast!

Finally, my youngest son is engaged to a supercalifragilisticexpialadocious woman and I cannot wait for the next celebration!

Family is everything.
